Configure Ethernet & IP
Use this guide to connect the OV20i camera to your computer or network and assign a valid IP address.
Direct Connection
- Connect camera's Ethernet to laptop using a standard CAT5e/6 cable.
- Power on camera (M12 or terminal).
- Set your computer's network adapter to same subnet:
- Example: Camera IP =
192.168.0.100
- Set PC to
192.168.0.1
, subnet255.255.255.0
- Example: Camera IP =
- Access camera UI via browser:
http://192.168.0.100
Network Switch Setup
- Connect camera to managed or unmanaged switch.
- Ensure switch doesn't block unknown IPs.
- Use IP scanner tool (e.g., Zenmap) to detect camera IP.
- Access UI and follow same login steps.
Changing the IP Address
- Log in to the camera's web interface.
- Go to System Settings > Network Settings
- Enter new IP, Subnet, and Gateway.
- Save and reboot camera.
note
Changing the IP will drop your current session.
What's a Subnet?
- Subnet defines devices that can talk without routing.
- Usually
255.255.255.0
(i.e., only the last digit differs). - Both PC and camera must be on the same subnet for access.
Troubleshooting
- No UI shows up? Confirm subnet and try pinging IP.
- Switch blocks camera? Unplug/replug both ends to reset switch table.
- Still not found? Use micro-USB debug or default IP fallback.
